MONOJ KUMAR BOSE
We joined in Hindustan Cables in the year 1961, Manoj a little earlier than me. Project work had just started when he joined, along with some other engineers, under Mr. Raghavan, Project Manager. Capacity addition as well as diversification of HCL took place in those days with Mr. N. K. Sengupta as Managing Director at the helm. Manoj made quite a name in the installation and commissioning work. When the Project work was gradually tapering off, he was posted in the Inspection and Quality Control sections.
After a long 30 years of work in HCL, Manoj was taken to Corporate Office in Kolkata and there he helped in completing the company’s vigilance procedures.
He left HCL for testing his skills and capabilities in private organisations like Sterlite Cables, Delton Cables etc.. He didn’t believe in sitting idle at home and therefore continued to work at Calcutta Club as Consultant. He also went on to doing some freelance work till 2015, when he got engaged with a charitable trust called Arogya Niketan, where his daughter Mrs. Jayati Ghose became the Principal.
Manoj left this world after some sickness, may be a little too soon. He was an amiable person and had the capability to get the work done under difficult conditions. It is very unfortunate to suddenly lose a colleague of almost three decades. He has left behind a dignified lady as his wife and two jovial children, as also the son-in-law and a grandson. The family is still trying to get over the loss arising out of his demise. I pray to God so that He gives Mrs. Basu and others adequate strength to bear this loss.
