The company was a pioneer in the field of Telecommunication Cable manufacturing from 1956-2017 having Units at Hyderabad, Naini, Narendrapur (Machine Tool Works), R&D, Rnpr. and Corporate Office at Kolkata.

This site has a very important role to bring all the HCL member families together and be in touch forever. It also carries the cultural and social aspects that are the inherent qualities amongst the members of Cables Family. HCL, Rupnarayanpur (Rnpr.) Unit being the Mother Unit, facilitating with 3.9 Km2 area township and next-door neighbour being Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) expanded its wings with colours. Unfortunately, due to product obsolescence and policy decisions, it went to closure. Finally, all the units separated their employees with voluntary retirements in January, 2017.
The employees, their families grew up with the organization since 1952 with its own ethos and culture which still runs in the blood of each family member. The inheritance of the local culture of the soil and the company is imbibed in the blood of every member.
